【Objective】The change law of nutritive element content in tobacco seed at different mature stages was investigated， in order to theoretical basis for tobacco seed breeding and field management. 【Method】Tobacco seeds of MS Yunyan 87， Yunyan 97， MS K326， and Honghua Dajinyuan at different mature stages were collected to determine contents of nutritive elements（N， P， K and Na）. 【Result】The results showed that， N， P and K contents in seeds of 4 tobacco varieties reached up to maximum at early mature stage（the 7th day）， which were significantly higher than those at other mature stages（P＜0.05）. As for MS Yunyan 87 seeds， the N， P， and K contents were found to be minimum at middle mature stage， and Na content were also found to be minimum at early mature stage. As for Yunyan 97 seeds， N and Na were consumed heavily at early mature stage， and N and Na contents tended to be stable at the following mature stages， moreover， P content showed decrease-increase-decrease-increase tendency during whole mature period， and K content increased at first and then decreased， which was found to be minimum at middle mature stage. As for MS K326 seeds， N was consumed heavily at early mature stage， N content in seed trended to be stable in the following mature stages； P content showed decrease-increase-decrease tendency in early-middle stage， which trended to be stable at later mature stage； K content decreased firstly and then increased， which was found to be minimum at middle mature stage； Na content changed greatly， which was accumulated to be maximum at middle mature stage， and reduced to low level at later mature stage. As for Honghua Dajinyuan seeds， N and Na were consumed heavily at early mature stage， and N and Na contents decreased firstly and then trended to be stable， while the P and K contents decreased firstly and then increased， which were found to be minimum at middle mature stage. 【Conclusion】There are some differences in the uptake and utilization of nutritive element in seed during mature period between tobacco varieties. Furthermore， N， P， K and Na are absorbed and utilized heavily at early-middle mature stage of tobacco seed， while their contents trend to be stable or slightly rebound in middle-later stage.
