【Objective】A probe into the quality of tobacco leaf affected by water soluble silicon fertilizer was conducted to provide technical guidance for the application of water soluble silicon fertilizer in tobacco leaf production. 【Method】 Field experiments were carried out in dry land and paddy field, respectively to study the influences of different rates of water soluble silicon fertilizer (60,120,180,0 kg/ha) on agronomic traits and quality of tobacco leaves, and economic benefits were analyzed as well. 【Result】Compared with the control (0 kg/ha), silicon fertilizer didnot change much tobacco agronomic traits including appearance quality and tobacco leaf grade. The yields of tobacco leaves at silicon rates of 60,120 and 180 kg/ha increased by 9.1%,9.5% and 10.7%, respectively from that of control. The highest production value reached 47,707.7 RMB Yuan/ha at the rate of 120 kg silicon/ha, followed by 47,699.6 RMB Yuan/ha at the silicon rate of 180 kg silicon/ha, significantly higher than the control. 【Conclusion】Application of water soluble silicon fertilizer can increase yield and production value of tobacco leaf through tobacco quality improvement and nicotine content reduction.
