【Objective】The objective of this study was to screen spring soybean varieties suitable for intercropping with sugarcane,in order to provide good intercropping varieties for sustaining production. 【Method】Screening experiment was conducted using nine soybean varieties intercropped with two sugarcane cultivation modes (1.2 and 1.0 m row spacing) during 2011 to investigate agronomic and yield traits of soybean and analyze their correlation. 【Result】In the 1.2 and 1.0 m cultivation mode of sugarcane, the correlation coefficient between growth duration and yield of soybean was 0.78 (P=0.0142) and 0.69(P=0.038), respectively. The yield of soybean variety Huachun 2 was the highest in both the 1.2 and 1.0 m cultivation mode, which was 2222.22 and 2083.33 kg/ha, respectively. In the 1.2 m cultivation mode, the yield of Guichun 10 and Quandou 7 was recorded as highest, while in the 1.0 m cultivation, the yield of Guichun 10 and Huanchun 5 was recorded as highest. 【Conclusion】Huachun 2 was the most suitable variety for intercropping with sugarcane using 1.2 m row spacing, followed by Guichun 10 and Quandou 7. The variety Huachun 2 was the most proper for intercropping with sugarcane using 1.0 m row spacing, followed by Guichun 10 and Huachun 5.
