【Objective】This study was conducted to elucidate the genetic relationship amongst local sweet potato germplasm resources collected from Guangxi in order to reduce discrepancies, eliminate homonym and synonym materials in their identification, and to provide references for effective utilization and development of sweet potato germplasm resources. 【Method】According to current data description and standards of sweet potato germplasm resources, 33 indices were selected as criteria and measured in 136 local sweet potato germplasm resources. The collected data were analyzed using cluster analysis with DPS software. 【Result】On the basis of UPGMA cluster analysis, 136 local sweet potato materials were classified into 4 groups containing 7, 2, 60 and 67 sweet potato materials in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th groups, respectively. Also, it included 24 pairs of synonym materials and 3 pairs of homonym materials. 【Conclusion】High genetic variations amongst Guangxi local sweet potato germplasm resources were observed. And it was found feasible to use morphological indices as markers for preliminary identification, selection and classification of sweet potato germplasm resources.
