【Objective】The present experiment was conducted to investigate the fresh-keeping effects of different kinds of packaging materials on fresh-cut Hami melon. 【Method】Hami melon fruits were peeled, cut into 2 cm3 pieces and packaged with 4 μm PE, 8 μm LDPE, 5 μm LLDPE and 9 μm PVDC parafilm, respectively, and then stored at 5℃ for 10 days. The packaged fruits were analyzed at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 days after packaging. 【Result】The results showed that PVDC parafilm with low gas-permeability slowed down the browning of fresh-cut Hami melon, effectively inhibited the increase of relative conductivity and accumulation of malondialdehyde and reduced the loss of vitamin C. All packaging materials did not show significant effects on weight loss. 【Conclusion】Different parafilm packaging material had different fresh-keeping effects on fresh-cut Hami melon, and the parafilm with low gas-permeability may be used for fresh-keeping of fruits and vegetables.
