【Objective】The present experiment was conducted to explore and apply resistance gene of rice brown planthopper (BPH, Nilaparvata lugens St■l) to breed rice restorer with resistance to BPH. 【Method】Rice material HS204 with high resistance to BPH was used as a BPH resistance donor, and rice restorer Minghui65 was used as recurrent parent. Through polymerization and backcross, the population identification of backcross offsprings at seedling stage and selection of agronomic traits at maturity were carried out. 【Result】The result proved that the resistance gene of HS204 was dominant. Through polymerization and backcross, the dominant resistance gene of BPH was transferred successfully to recurrent parent. Among offspring of 11 backcross combinations, 4 homozygous restorers showed high combining ability and resistance to BPH. Among 4 combinations, M204-8-2-3-6-5 and M204-8-8-14-9-9 derived from strain M204-8, and their 7 new combinations showed resistance of over grade 3 and strong restoring ability. 【Conclusion】The rice homozygous strains with targeted traits can be quickly bred using polymerization backcross and resistance screening, and the homozygous resistant strains backcross with the recurrent parent.
