【Objective】In order to make use of winter fallow fields， improve multiple cropping index and enhance the income of farmers， the cultivation of sweet corn was attempted to be extended in winter. 【Method】The sweet corn variety Huazhen 76 was sown at six different dates in winter using four cultivating patterns in Yulin from 2008-2009. Comparative analysis of agronomic and yield traits was performed. 【Result】Different sowing dates and cultivating patterns variously affected the ear length， plant height， single ear weight and yield of maize. Both early and late sowing dates were found to be advantageous in terms of the growth and yield. The highest yield of Huazhen 76 was obtained when it was planted using plastic film mulching cultivation method. 【Conclusion】The fallow fields may be utilized by planting corn variety Huazhen 76 on 5th December using plastic film mulching cultivation method in Yulin City.
