【Objective】 The objective of the current study was to screen peanut varieties suitable for intercropping with cassava, to enhance the utilization rate of sun light and to increase the yield and economic benefits per unit area on the existing cultivated land. 【Method】 A randomized block design experiment was conducted in the field by planting seven different peanuts varieties intercropped with cassava variety SC 205 in three replicates at Lijian Experiment Base of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The agronomic, and economic and quality characters were investigated. 【Result】 Guihua 771 was found superior to the other six peanut varieties, and was characterized by compact plant type, strong resistance to lodging, higher effective branches and the pods number per plant, yield per plant, plumpness rate of pods and yield. The second one was Guihua 22 which showed better length of lateral branches, total branch number, effective branch number and yield, it was found suitable for intercropping with cassava. The third one was Guihua 26 which showed strong growth vigor, the heaviest 100-pod weight and higher yield. 【Conclusion】 Guihua 771, Guihua 22 and Guihua 26 performed well in the study, and were also good for intercropping, and Guihua 771 showed the best .
