【Objective】The present study is an attempt to relocate the major tasks of Guangxi Demonstration Park for Modern Agricultural Science and Technology （GDPMAST）， and to find out strategies to promote its sustainable development.【Method】The methods of field investigation combined with second-hand information were used to investigate the original function orientation of GDPMAST and analyze the existing problems. 【Result】It has been observed that the conventional agricultural facilities and out of date equipments， shortage of distinct local and exotic agriculture resources， poor investment and insufficient skilled technical staff， etc.， were the main causes of hindering its progress. 【Conclusions】According to the commonweal property of GDPMAST， it was repositioned as a typical and combined venue for demonstration of agricultural， scientific and technological achievements. The repositioned GDPMAST aimed to give priority to the demonstration of agricultural scientific and technological achievements， and subsidiary to agricultural production and management. The income of production from the park would be used in supporting the demonstration of agricultural scientific and technological achievements. In order to promote the sustainable development of GDPMAST based on the repositioned functions， some strategies have been put forward which included introduction of agricultural sciences， technologies and achievements， multi-channel financing， enhancement of agricultural talent introduction and training， etc.
